The title to this album is also the title to the Denver March Powwow Song, which is included on the album. Side one was recorded live at the Taos Pueblo Community Center, Taos, New Mexico at a benefit powwow for a local individual. Side two was recorded at spirited jam session. Beautiful music from great compositions! Lakota words, with English translations, provided on the insert. Extended play.
This recording represents spirited singing from two sources: the Jackie Anderson Benefit Powwow in late January, 1989, at the Taos Pueblo Community Center; and a house warming party for Tom Teegarden and Jennifer Skeet upon their move to Taos. This recording also represents the first recording of Red Leaf Takoja in nearly four years, and the first since a majority of the group now live in Taos, New Mexico. Singers who sang on this tape include: Richard Archuleta, Tom Teegarden, Pat Bad Hand, Harold Cordova. Esther Romero, David and Andrea Gomez, Howard and Terrie Bad Hand, Bob Jacobs, Toby Zorthian, Tony Martinez, Joe Rivera, Donna Concha, Michelle Concha and Althea Tortalita. Other people were present during these recordings but too numerous to mention - their presence was very much appreciated. The following is singing for the sheer joy of singing and should be listened to in the same manner - if you want to dance, dance!
